History of the Ministry of Land, Provincial Irrigation, Agriculture, Animal Production, Animal Health and Fisheries.
With the establishment of the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council in 1988 under the 13th Amendment to the Constitution of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, this Ministry was established to take over the administration, management and development activities of the Provincial Council on Agriculture, Minor Irrigation, Agrarian Services and Animal Production.
Subjects belonging to this Ministry were associated with the subject areas of other Ministries up to the fourth term of the Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council and during the fifth term it was established in 2012 as the Ministry of Lands, Provincial Irrigation, Agriculture, Animal Production and Animal Health and Fisheries.
The entire staff is made up of 36 officers who are looking forward to creating a self-sufficient province with food security through an agricultural revival.
Allocation of projects identified by the Ministry for development programs as a matter of priority, implementation of those projects through institutions and other government agencies under the Ministry, background to build an efficient and productive agriculture through public and private coordination on agriculture and other related subjects Etc. plays a number of roles in the priority.
The Provincial Land Commissioners Department, the Provincial Department of Agriculture and the Provincial Department of Animal Production and Animal Health have been established under the Ministry and the allocations received for these subjects are directed by the Ministry to the relevant department for development activities.
